Spring Swim Session

The FINS will be offering a spring technique/endurance clinic, which is open to FINS and non-FINS swimmers. It is a great opportunity to maintain and improve conditioning developed through the season and focus on specific technique issues to optimize swimming performance.  Please e-mail Stasia Dionne at SStani@AOL.com, if you would like to participate in Spring swimming.

The FINS spring clinic will also be offered to novice competitive swimmers ages 7-10 on Monday evenings 6:30-7:30 PM and Thursday evenings from 6 to 7 PM and Sunday mornings from 9-10. This group will focus on proper stroke technique in each of the four competitive strokes, as well as starts and turns. This clinic will be geared toward young athletes who are just beginning competitive swimming. It is NOT a beginner swim lesson program! Novice swimmers must be able to complete at least 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke. This clinic is appropriate for current FINS in the Red practice group as well as non-FINS who meet the above criteria. Spots in the novice program will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The clinic will run from Monday, April 5 through June 5 (excluding New Hampshire school vacation week (April 26th-May 1) and all practices will be held at the Nashua Boys and Girls Club pool, as follows:

Technique:Monday & Wednesday mornings 5:30 AM - 6:30 AM

While the morning sessions will primarily focus on technique, there will be a lane(s) available for endurance training as well.

Endurance:Monday 6:30-8:30 PM & Thursday evenings 6:00 – 7:30 PM; Sunday mornings 9-11 AM

The weekday evening and Sunday morning sessions will focus on endurance, with the exception of the novice group.

The cost of clinic is $150 per swimmer. Swimmers planning to swim in the evening will be required to become a member of the Boys Club for $25.00/year and will be required to check into the club with a membership card.

As noted, this program is NOT restricted to FINS swimmers. Non-FINS swimmers will be evaluated for participation. As a baseline, swimmers should be able to swim 10 x 100’s on 2 minutes. If you know anyone who would like to continue with swimming through spring, please invite them to join us. The registration form is available under Documents on the FINS website.
